Default Banned from Mansion

A few months ago I had my account locked at Mansion, the reason being that they requested proof of address which I sent immediately. However their terms and conditions say that they must be able to see all 4 edges of this proof document. I was unable to comply with this (no scanner, camera etc) and my account has remained locked. I received an email today saying that as my account has been dormant for 180 days they would be taking £7.50 from my account as an admin fee. I have just replied to this and hope you will find it mildly amusing.

Dear Sirs

Thank you for your kind email reminding me that I have not played on your site for some time. Thank you also for offering to remove money from my account for being so forgetful. I realise that after I deposit MY money with you in order that you can earn interest on it rather than leaving it in my bank account to earn interest for myself I should expect to be charged for this privilege.

However, I must claim some mitigating circumstances for my appaling behaviour. I have had an account with you for some years now but a few months ago you decided to lock my account. The reason for this, hmmmm, oh yes I remember. You requested that for my own protection I supply you with proof of ID and proof of address. I of course was really grateful that you cared so much about the safety of MY money and I immediately supplied the required documents.

Feeling much more secure at this time I thought the matter had been dealt with in a very efficient manner by both both sides. But then, shock horror, I was informed I had made a fatal mistake. My proof of address despite showing my name and address on a national utility bill did not show all four edges of the bill, such an obvious requirement of all proofs. How could I ever have made such an elementary mistake?

How can I rectify this? You kindly offerred me a variety of ways to allow me to redeem myself. Oh no, I then realised my atrocious lack of basic equipment prevented me from using any of these methods. How remiss of me not to own a digital camera, a scanner, a printer or even a fax machine. I attempted to explain my predicament to one of your email addresses and as expected from such an efficient company I received an apology and a promise that one of your highly trained employees would contact me via telephone, which I do own one of. I am still patiently awaiting this call and agree with you that I should be charged while I am waiting.

Again I apologise for my disgraceful behavior and I will continue to sit by the phone awaiting your call. In the unlikely event you do not have access to my telephone number, I am in the UK and my number is xxxxxxxxxx.

Regards

Your humble servant

Same happened to me there Ralph...I Did have a digital camera and after three attempts they gave up and accepted my photo....but it was rejected twice because at first ...same excuse...can't see all four sides of the document...second time was ...it's not clear enough to read (which was bullshit) and third time they realised i wasn't gonna give up and allowed it.

I withdrew all my money immediately and will never play there again.

P.S. and they support Spurs (spit) (English football club for u US readers)

Regarding th ecomment about taking money out of '"dormant" accounts. I first ran into this on the Prima network (ex. -GNUF), but at least they sent me an e-mail first saying I had 24 hours to play X number of hands. I took my money off this site and any others with a similar policy.

Although Darkralph put it much more eleoquently, charging admin fees is pure chickenshit.

On to the identity documents - “for player's security.”

A numberof sites require a copy of your driver's lic. and a complete utility bill or bank statement to cash out. I contacted the rep. of one site who explained it was required under British anit-terrorism laws (haven’t been able to find the law - maybe someone from the UK is aware of it).. I contacted another site where the rep. said it was for my security. When I asked why the same documentation wasn't needed to deposit - he had no answer.

While admin fee are annoying, the practise pales in comparison to the egregiouness of requesting a dirver’s license and a ulitity bill, bank statement. They are asking you to provide the exact documentation necessary to initate an identity theft.

As an aside, there seems to be a fairly good correlation between sites that make it difficult to cash/ or charge fees and sites that eventually fold. It is why I now try ot check out the cashing policy and play primarily at AP/UB.(best cashing out policy I have found).
