Default Bots on UB making money off jackpots

I got this emailed to me from a common bot website the same one that was slammed on fulltilt. Forwarded this to them but doubt those greedy basterds will do anything. I encourage all of you to send an email with this in it to UB or APs support the more the better

Greetings Poker Sharks,

Well another big bad beat jackpot (at Poker Room A) has just been hit - and just like last time, a whole flock of our members have reported getting pieces of it while using our Holdem Poker Bot to play for them. The last two times saw it hit in the NL50 game (that is .25/.50 blinds and $50 max buyin) which is the lowest stakes NL jackpot game. This is actually one of the better strategies for using our software.

It works like this. When you see the jackpot get over $300,000 that seems to be the trigger that draws all the fish in. The tables get really easy to beat all of a sudden. Just putting our bot in a 9-max NL50 game using the free default profile that it comes with will usually show a nice profit just from playing at that point. On top of that you have the jackpot going for you, which really brings your expectation up.

When it hit yesterday the jackpot was getting close to $500,000. Everybody playing at the same game type and stakes was awarded $103 for each table they were playing at. Many of our forum members reported having the bot playing 4+ tables when it hit which was a nice payday. On top of that most of them reported profiting from the soft play of the games to boot.

So now we wait for the jackpot to get big again. In the meantime we use the bot to clean up at the micro stakes across all five of our currently supported poker rooms, play MTT's and SNG's, or whatever. Ahhhh, poker botting. What a great hobby. Who knows, maybe next time the bot will win a same-table prize or even the big one!

By the way, we recently rebuilt our support forum so stop by and check things out if you have not visited lately. If you do not yet have a forum account we turned on self-registration so you can just create an account and login. While we were rebuilding it we had some server outages, but our web pages are up and stable now. (Some people who tried to visit during the outages had IE cache the pages while they were down, so if you have any trouble visiting our website with Internet Explorer just use Mozilla Firefox instead. Firefox is a great free web browser that you can quickly download, just Google it).

That's it for now. Happy jackpot hunting and see you at the cashier.

Sincerely,

Shanky Technologies Team

I'm more concerned about the apparent lack of interest from AP about the bots, then the bots themselves. Please let us know if Ap ever foes respond,

It would be good if each poker site would either say "Bots are Banned" or "Bots are OK". Then - even if they have trouble enforcing a ban, players would know where the site stands on the issue. There is no point trying to tell a site about a suspected Bot-player if the site does not care. So the question is - how do we get the sites to take a stand and publish it? I will email them to request their position on it, and will let you know if/when I get a response.

first off bobi every site I have played on have clearly stated bots as against the rules heres what AP says http://www.absolutepoker.com/support...and-conditions it is defined under 5.3 of their terms

now this is the response i got from them seems pretty bland and what I got from it is they are not going to do anything because they have an incompetent security team, well atleast thats what I got from it. Could easily bust 30 bots a day with 100% certainty if I had there job, but how many bots have they gone after is the figure still at 0?

Thank you for contacting us.

Please rest assured that security is a number one priority for us. We have been developing and implementing technologies to identify these bots and keep them off our site. Unfortunately, this is a never ending battle where the companies building the bots constantly update their software in an attempt to remain undetected. We in return, are also constantly revisiting our procedures and technologies to catch bots. Additionally, we take this and all player reports very seriously. If you have a particular player you would like us to look into, please let us know and we will conduct a full investigation. Thanks UIIIU for posting the reply from AP - less than fully reassuring. I suppose since bots contribute to and possibly increase the rake, there is really little incentive to stop them. ickles

Thanks, Keith - I just read what you posted here - only took me a month to get to it - meanwhile, I sent my email today to AP and it will be interesting to see if they give me the exact same response you got!
Here is what I sent:
"I have been hearing a lot about the Bonusbots software that some people use to play FOR THEM online.

Do you have a policy against software playing at your site, instead of people? If so, can you make sure the policy is spelled out clearly so that everyone knows you do not allow it – and if people report suspected bots, can you check somehow and ban those from your site (and UB, too, of course)?

I have no interest in using any software to play for me, and the people at the forum I belong to are talking about being annoyed when they sit down at a table with the bots. We all wonder which sites will allow these, and which will ACTIVELY remove those who are reported, who turn out to be obviously software-players. Many people think that the Poker Sites don’t care, since they get their rake and fee, so I said I would email you to find out what your policy is, and whether you care and if you are doing anything in this regard."

Here is the response I received from AP - please notice I am "Guaranteed" to be playing at a table with NO BOTS...not quite the same thing that was said to Keith...

Dear Ms. Johannes,

Thank you for contacting us.

At Absolute Poker, no matter which table you decide to play at, you are guaranteed to play against real online poker players. Your fellow players may live down the street or halfway around the world, but they are guaranteed to be playing for themselves only. Unlike some other online poker rooms, at any of our poker tables you will never play against any bots, shills (paid players), computer opponents, or against the "house".

On occasion, Absolute Poker does utilize several select proposition players in a very limited way. This allows us to ensure that there are always live games available for all our players to enjoy. In order to secure the credibility of our poker room, prop players have no financial interest in the success of Absolute Poker. Prop players compete entirely with their own money, are unaware who the other prop players are, and have no access to "inside information" that might help them defeat an opponent.

Please do not hesitate to contact us again if you require any type of assistance in the future.

Best regards,

John
