why poker is such a brutal game

First off I was studying for a social psychology exam last night and the chapter on human aggression really got me going. First off what do many of the top pros have in common today? Id say almost all of them are very aggressive players now you could say the newer generation is more aggressive than older ones but why is that. There are many arguments some say the younger generation has less respect for money and less responsibilities therefore they have no fear of going broke because they are young and still can rebuild vs. older generations with ppl like doyle who will no longer take the risk of going broke. This argument does have some weight behind it but im going to go one step futher and say culture plays a prodominate role too.

The younger generation has grown up around glorified aggression. Whether it be from the TV where the hero is often some crazy guy with super powers who kicks ass or whether it is getting praised by your peers for kicking the shit out of some poor kid. My point is the change in poker I believe is more nature than ppl actually changing there game. I will leave you with this definition of aggression-
Aggression is defined as behavior aimed at causing harm or pain, psychological harm, or personal injury or physical distraction.

I can tell you right now I never even really thought of aggression in this manner but if you think about it, it really fits right in with poker and definitely supports the idea that theres no friendly game of poker and it also explains why the most aggressive players seem to be the most hated on avg.

Having an undergrad degree in psych. ((which is no reason to add any credence to what I'm about to say, (I choose the area of studied because it had the best female /male ratio)) and having studied the facial expressions and body language of most of these players I believe the reason for their aggression that they dearly, sorely, and desperately need to get laid.
