Default Vegas Bound

That time of year is fast appraoching. No not easter..WSOP.. This year I am going to make my 1st trip to Vegas(I am so freaking excited it hurts). I am thinking late june so I can play the June 26th wsop $1000 buy in and the ofc live game at the nugget, hopefully a deepstack or 2 at the venitian..

Anyways This is a 2 part thread.

1) who else is planning on being in Vegas in that time frame june 24-july2..

2) I will be travelling with my lovely wife so the trip will have to include a little more then just poker.. I am looking for advice on eating.. shopping.. excursions.. shows.. etc. Any deals or anything a virgin vegas traveler should know.. What kind of things can I send the wife to do when I am at the felt(she likes to shop).

anyways like i said i am a veas virgin so any advice is welcomed.. I really hope to run into a bunch of you while I am there.. If you are going to be there at that time let me/us know where you are staying I am still flexible on date hotels everthing I am just going to have a fun time and the best fun allways includes friends.

Yes, I am blessed to be living in Las Vegas and loving it.
Alby, there are factors to take into consideration where to stay.
Golden Nugget offers a rate during the live OFC, use GRAND11,
but you're staying downtown. There's been some remodeling,
but I never stayed there so don't know what the rooms are like.
Where do you plan on spending most of your time, are you renting
a car, how much money have you set aside for your room for the
week? If you want to be on the strip the majority of time, find
the best rate and take a cab or bus downtown for the games.
GN does have a really nice pool area and it's going to be HOT.

Give me more details, and I'll try to guide you thru the intricacies
of FABULOUS LAS VEGAS

I figured a car would be a pain in the ass to park..True? not true?
I can afford to stay at the venitian if I want but I am sort of leaning toward GN because alot forum friends will be around there and the pool area looks awesome and I am a pool/beach dude... I am also travelling with my non poker playing wife(lol she said there was no way I was going to Vegas alone..can't say i blame her) and she is going to be looking to do stuff a few days while I am felting and I really don't have a clue where would be best for her while I am playing. I also plan on catching a couple shows..how do i get cheap tickets? I AM JUST SO FREAKING EXCITED!!! My brain will probably blow up before june because I haven't stopped vibrating since I decide I was going for sure.

I usually stay at the Flamingo when I'm in vegas. I like the mid strip location and there is a free shuttle that you can pick up that goes to the Rio for the WSOP. (I think it picks up and drops off at the rear of Harrahs) I'm not sure if this still exists but there used to be a free shuttle bus that ran from the old Barbary Coast to the Gold Coast Casino next door to the Rio.

If you take a cab to the Rio make sure to tell the cab driver to go to the WSOP poker entrance. This will save you from having to walk through the entire casino to get back to the convention rooms where the WSOP is held.

If your wife likes shopping, Caesars forum shops are right acrossed the street and there's the Bellagio acrossed from that.

The Flamingo also has a very nice pool but no shark tank like at the Golden Nugget. That must be a fairly new addition.

I'm sure you will have a great time. I'll never forget my first visit to the WSOP (2006). I saw many of the Poker greats you see on TV and even got interviewed for an online commercial for Doyles Room. I doubt they ever used the footage though.

I'm excited for you, Have a blast!

Every casino on the strip has free self parking garages, very easy, but driving the strip can be a pain, not impossible, but a pain. There are side streets that run parallel to the strip which is what I use when going to the strip. There's also a fairly new mall called Mile 1 I believe, close to Paris. My friends loved it. Discounted show tickets can be bought the same day at kiosks located all along the strip, I think called Discount tickets 4 tonite. Some shows are not discounted at all. They'll have a list of all shows and which ones are discounted. 2 shows I really enjoyed are The Legends at Harrahs and Menopause the Musical, an hour and a half of non-stop laughing, even the men loved it, both discounted at the kiosk.

PM me so we'll be able to get together. You know what I look like. It's going to be a lot of fun.

Given my tendancies for intoxicants i think i will budget 200-300 for cabs for my trip.. If I stay downtown or the strip I will be going to other so taxi's will be used.

What about the Rio? Flamingo? I am sorta leaning to strip but that changes daily..
