The Reason Why Poker Players SHOULDNT Gamble
Here are some stories about poker players who got into other gambling situations, with a chance of winning a little or losing a lot.
STORY #1: 2004, Northern California. A poker player who often bet on horses inherited $250,000. Another player proposed to book his bets and give him slightly better odds than he would get at the track. After a few weeks the one doing all the booking had all the money. He invested his profits in business and never reentered the gambling world. He later confided in a friend that the first race was a 12 to 1 shot, and if the horse had won he couldn't have been able to pay off the debt. His scheme would have came to an abrupt end.
STORY#2: 2005 Las Vegas. A high stakes poker player , shot pool with someone who had very little money. After they had been playing for awhile, a friend whispered to the high stakes poker player, "This guy's got $200 to his name. You cant beat anything out of him." The poker player replied, " Yes I can, he's got $40,200 now."
Story#3: 2003 Las Vegas. A wealthy poker player shot pool with a dice player who had borrowed a few thousand dollars and then took on a couple of partners. They started at $5000 a game and ended up playing for $20,000 a game. The dice player won about $300,000 for the session. When they left the pool hall, the poker player's car wouldn't start. The dice player gave him a ride to his home in a wheezing, dilapidated old car. The guard at the gated communtity where the poker player lived wouldn't even let the car through. They played several other times, increasing the stakes along the way. Over the course of a month, the dice player had won about 2 million before the poker player quit. He used his money to shoot dice in various casinos and play high limit heads up poker. Within 2 months, the dice player had amassed a fortune of over 30 million dollars. He owned almost all the $5,000 chips at Binion Horseshoe Casino, which he kept in several safety deposit boxes at the casino. But before the year was over he had lost it all playing craps and poker.
