Heads up to UB/AP Ringers
I had a rather humbling experience about a week back. As some of you know I went on the rush of a lifetime over 3 sites, including UB, Tilt, and Stars. Well that rush came to an abrupt halt about a week ago, and it was halted single hendedly by one man/woman. I'll tell the story first.
Acenuts is the eventual villain's username on UB. I had played some 5,000 hands against him and had him noted as potentially dangerous but somewhat predictable. So, as I do every time I sit down, I fired up PT and ran my opponents names, and as usual there were only 1-2 people of concern.
Well, apparently I failed to take into consideration that I may not be the ONLY player keeping track of hand histories and using them as a reference point. I shouldn't be shocked. Once you get to 1/2 or higher you see the same faces most nights, so hand histories are an invaluable tool.
Anyway, I sat full buy in and had small balled my way up to around $550 ish before Acenuts and I collided.
Once we collided it was like every other hand we were at each others throats. It felt like the rest of the table was sitting back watching the show. He was picking off my c-bets. He was picking off my floats. He folded top two pair against my middle set and had the balls to show me what he folded.
In short he was a step ahead of me for about an 8 hour period. About 8 hours and $1100 later I figured out what happened. He was doing the same thing to me that I do to everyone else.
Now, those that know me know I have an ego at the table. It's not false bravado. I may get sucked out on or make a dumb mistake, but very seldom does someone consistently outplay me.
I'm telling you, Acenuts owned me from start to finish for a good solid 8 hours.
Now, I've sat at tables with 3 and 4 of UB's "pros" and walked away with 3x what I sat with, actually pretty consistently. Never before have I been owned the way I was owned that night.
My point is, it was no accident. He bided his time for weeks and weeks. He saved hand histories and studied the regulars in the 1/2 and 2/4 games on UB. And then he took what he learned and applied it to great effect.
Usually after a bad night I either dont say anything at all or I get sarcastic but this man so thoroughly outplayed me that all I could say was; "Hell of a game bro."
If you play 1/2 or 2/4 on UB/AP with any frequency, watch out, because I promise you he's watching you.
That's all. Just a heads up. Some players have talent. Some players have work ethic. Acenuts has both. Pay attention if he's at your table or risk dropping $1100 in 8 hours.
