This is by far my favorite game, but for some reason its changed since i was playin cash games 15 years ago. Strategy used to be only a fish bets on the low. Why risk your stack hoping to catch low cards, and hope to avoid being quartered (having to split the low pot with someone who holds same low cards as you). But nowadays if theres two low cards on the flop, youll see raise after raise after raise, as people are all certain their A-2 or A-3 is going to get them payed. Which is fine if your high hand is locked, or you have LOTS of outs to hit the high nuts. But seeing the bets become too big to draw at becomes frustrating. So ive had to completely revamp my stategy lately, but its not working consistently. Lol! My only advice is to know your outs, whether its for high or low. Seems simple enough, but which of your outs are also going nut up another player? Now, do the pot odds and implied pot odds justify a call?
And, youll find connectors around the ten tend to hit more often then big pairs hold up. 789T, 79TJ, etc.... Watch the 5/10 No limit fun money games at AP when you have some time. EVERYONE pushes all in before the flop, knowing they can reload their playchips when they bust. Its no fun to play, but its a great learning tool watching what hands usually take pots.
