I'd love to hear everyone's strategy on six person sng's. Those are the hardest for me. They may look easy, but when you got 6 usually tight players vying for 2 spots, it's extremely tough.

Default SNG are EASY!!

Ive played some sngs. Im make several posts and try to cover MOST of what i know...

1. Basic strategy early. through the first 3 and sometimes 4 levels you should play very careful. One way of doing this is betting your hands for value. Example U have AJ 3 way pot the flop is J 10 5..the SAFEST way to play this in early levels is to bet your hand for value, which mean you lead out at the pot for a appropriate amount like somewhere between 3x and pot size bet. Now 2 thing are happening that are good for you. 1. they are reaching to your bet. 2 your not check calling and guessing. Ill explain. Same hand you have AJ now instead of betting you check. A player who has position on you bets a fair amount like 3x. You call. Now if the turn if a KING QUEEN TEN NINE EIGHT SEVEN, (which all COULD be bad cards).you check, and ur opponent bets hard. Now hes betting a pot size bet, say 300. NOW UR GUESSING, and since online poker has no physical tells to go on, UR ASKING TO GET IN TROUBLE. For 1 he might already have you beat. 2 if you smooth call the turn bet, he may draw out OR AND he has another shot to bet you off your hand..If your asking yourself alot early in tournaments "does he have it?" then your probably giving control of the pot away with your medium strength hands and guessing. Stop doing that. Bet out and when the turns a possible scare card BUT YOU ONLY FACING ONE OPPONENT OR MAYBE TWO bet your hand for value again. If ur raised then thats when you make a decision..NOT you checking opponent bets you hard..then u make your decision.

Pokers a game, in a game, in a game, or is it just that simple?

The one thing i like about one table sng's (whether 6 peeps or full) is that youre going to see alot of hands played out. So long as youre not a multitasking fool like i usually am, youre going to be able to get a good feel of how the others play. So i agree with matt, you HAVE to play tight at first, wait and watch. The first couple of levels are gonna be a gold mine of information, as the most common strategy is to play alot of hands early when its cheap and pick up some chips for the run to the money. Dont worry that youre missing out on the early money, playing premium hands will keep your stack healthy. Now in higher levels youll find yourself outchipped but most of the table, but youre now percieved as super tight, and you have knowledge of their habits, which i'll take over a big stack anyday! Now switch gears, and use your info to your advantage.

Not a guaranteed strategy, but it used to work well for me when i was a cash player.

Default AA, KK early

Very simple. forget maximizing profit..just stay in your seat. I see more good players make a 4 x raise early to 80 or 120 and get those aces or kings cracked by a real hand or a goofy one. Make a huge raise, win ur 30-50 chips and stay in ur seat. Wait till the blinds go up to start "playing" ur big prs.

if the top 3 places pay, one good strategy (once down to 5 or 4 players) is to really put the pressure on your opponents and stealing the blinds, especially if you have the big stack. This still works pretty well as long as you're not super short stacked. We're on the bubble here, and you have a great opportunity to really build your stack up before everyone makes the money.

Build your stack and increase your chances of winning the whole thing.

One other strategy I sometimes like to employ (depends on how the other players are playing, if they're really tight this works great.) You can keep the bubble going by stealing all the blinds, but letting go of big hands to a re-raise to keep the bubble going. I have done this a few times, and sometimes find myself with a 10 to 1 advantage against the other two players once we make the money. After that it's pretty easy to win the tournament.

If you're not super confident in either your reads or your ability to avoid traps, I wouldn't suggest keeping the bubble going though, just make the money and try to win from there.
