Cancer charity event

This is the most difficult thing I have had to write and something that has affected my life so deeply. I think some of you may recall a blog that topnotch wrote awhile back,http://www.pokerspace.com/community/...uck-in-the-cc/, where he talks about stopping his treatments for cancer. It was Dec. 6thwhen I received the news that he was being released from the hospital as the doctors told him that there was no point in continuing his treatments as the cancer had spread throughout too much of his body. It seemed like some people understood what this meant while others did not.

With top's blessing, I am writing this to tell our community exactly what top is going thru. When he was released from the hospital the doctors said they thought he would make it maybe 9 months but they could not see him lasting a year. He has already lost 38lbs. and cannot seem to stop the weight loss no matter how much he eats. He can't even afford the steroids that he needs to try to counteract this weight loss. Many will say fight, fight, well he has fought this ugly disease for quite some time and the very sad, realistic truth is that the disease has won. But don't think he isn't fighting still. He fights everyday to stay positive, to not be so tired, to keep his family in good spirits, to not lose any more weight. This is a man who wishes for things like enjoying time with family, to always be nice to others even if they are not nice to him, to make a difference in the world and to not complain about the cards dealt to him - in life and poker. He truly is an inspiration.

When I found out he was going to die, after my eyes went down from the swelling from all the crying, I made it my goal to make sure that we got him back to Vegas, where he used to live before he went back home to fight cancer. I have been working for a month to get things set-up but UB has proven very difficult with not wanting to run charity tourneys anymore. I will talk about the events coming up in a bit but I am praying that everyone here will do all they can to support and gather support to help make this dream come true. We are looking to raise enough money to get him a 10-day stay at the Mirage. We would like to make arrangements for him to leave on March 15th. I think working to make this happen has helped so much with dealing with the reality of what is happening here. I am not one to be emotional or put my feelings out there, but I love Jason and he is one of my best friends. I seriously try not to think about what is to come as I cannot imagine my life without him in it. I just want to help him have one dream trip to Vegas - a trip of a lifetime literally.

I want to thank Susie (SusieQue) for helping me host the event on UB and for doing everything she could to try and get UB to host the event in the way we wanted it to be done originally. I also want to thank Zed and Ken for getting the tourneys finally set-up. I want to thank Vger who has been a constant source of support and love for both top and myself. I know she will be doing everything she can to increase support for these tourneys. I know there will be many more that are going to be helping out like Steve and Ogreman and I thank you also. Having all your support and making this happen means so much to both of us.
