Default You Can't Fix Stupid

Tonight I watched a couple of players make remarks that po'ed the sponsor of the game to the extent that he is pulling out of future events.

I imagine that these guys think they are AP or UB's version of Phil Helmuth and Mike the MOuth. In reality this act is much closer to Fred Sanford and Barney Fife.

Generally I ignore this crap but when good games get cancelled I am not pleased.

Big Mouth Jack Asses and their self adulation are not appealing, interesting, or intimidating and the only time they are really tolerated is when they have enough money to throw a good party for the hanger oners.

Well said N2k. I have yet to see any player, even the very best, play every hand perfectly. That aside, it is not a question of the eventual outcome, it is a question, taking into account all the factors - did I play the hand correctly. If a player calls without the proper pot odds for the draw, chases a runner runner, or hits a 22 to1 on the river so what - its a game of probabilty, it happens, get over it. If someone is trash talking use the mute button, or even simpler stop reading the text, and do what you are supposed to be doing - focus on the game.

Fortunately I don't need the mute button as the trash talk typically demonstrates the users writing skills and little more.

Unfortunately, when someone puts up a few hundred bucks to make a game or games happen I hope that the morons have adequate skills to just be quiet after being asked to show some respect.

Based on the diction used I don't expect "phil' or "mike" to apologize to their host. I know manners and good interpersonal skills are either forgotten or never learned. However, I expect that if these pros want to see these games in the future they will have enough sense to rest their fingers and just play.

From a personal standpoint I always maintained that if you ignored this mindless whining and there were no reactions the bored typist would tire and stop. Now you have the whiners and their entourage to engage each other and encourage increasing blather.

Kardmania, point taken. It seems a select few feel these games are a venue to bully or intimate others. Some I suspect have been encouraged by the writing of John Vorhaus, some by the the antics of certain pros, and others because thye are uncouth louts. I agree it is especailly vexing if a good game is cancelled or is disrupted by their antics. However, unless I intend to report their behaviour,I generally ignore them and concentrate on trying to knock them out of the game.

If they are railbirds, I am much more likely to take a proactive role. Fortunately, at NDB and a number of other forums where I play, there is alow tolerance for this type of behaviour. I also rarely see it in ring games or higher stakes buyins where there is a signifcant amount of money on the table.

I just don't like the resulting solution being the owner picks up the ball and heads home.
