Received an invite to a tough game NLH tourney at a local country club. Professional dealers Approx 30 players no dead money clubbers. Players are all semipro quality or better (present company excluded) 2 WSOP bracelet winners 3 WSOP main event top 50 finishers PokerStar Sunday Million FT record holder • $250 X 30 less $300 for the dealers = $7200, $2500 to the winner (app) • Pay the first 5 places • No bounty, they're all semi-pros |

i would say slightly crazy, not that you wouldnt hold your own but you can find a lot softer games for that money which is what I would go for, buy into a 1/2 or 2/4nl cash game there you will find ppl practically giving you money now with this tourny no dead money = gamble which essentially turns poker into Blackjack which im not a big fan of, but with that said it could be a good learning experience. SO really its up to you personally i wouldnt do it because im a stingy mthrfcker, but it could be fun and you play solid so catch a few hands and its anyones game just dont expect the gimme double ups you find in the $5 mtts which are the best

I have accumulated a few bucks playing both live and online so the money is not a big deal.
I am finding that "easier spots" are becoming more difficult. I need some scheduling breaks so I can avoid playing completely sleep derprived. If I swing the schedule adjustments I feel like I need to try. I might be crazy but at least these guys don't know what I am apt to do like half of the players here. Could always Moneymaker. |

For $250 you have the opportunity to play against semi-pros and soem bracelet holders. I'd jump at the chance for the opportunity and the potential education. I know the normal thniking is to look for soft games, but sometimes you have to pay to learn.
You have a number of serious advantages over the field. First, you can watch the bracelet winners on TV and studied their style and tells. Second, they will treat you as an online amateur and play against you accordingly. Third, if you are there for the experience you will be less likely to be intimated by them and able to play a tight agressive game. Expect less limping and players to show down real hands. I would probably get down to your local big box book store and read Narvarro's book on tells as part of my prep. Go for it. |

I adjusted my schedule to avoid the 5am wake up and lack of sleep.
I did made the call to make sure I could play Sunday evening. Yes, I was going to bite the bullet and let the chips fall where they may. Well the scheduling went to hell a day early and the day of the game. The result was less than 6 hours sleep the over the past two nights. The day was filled with nothing but problems; there is no good way to avoid most of these bullets you just have to work them out. Then my luck started to break bad. Earlier this year I had to deal with a root canal and a stubborn infection. Before lunch while gritting my teeth no doubt, I fractured the adjacent tooth and the fracture lacerated the gum. Fortunately, the dentist gets me in and tells me yes we can fix. A voice in my head reminds me I have heard this before that would have to be a couple of grand ago. Ninety minutes and a couple hundred dollars later I am on the road again. I am fat tongued, swollen and equipped with a script for pain pills, antibiotics, and instructions to avoid eating for a couple of hours. There goes the pregame dinner. I drove thru picked up my scripts and went home to take the meds. There is good news: No food+ No sleep+Pain Pills + Antibiotic does alleviate the sensations of sleep deprivation. The sad truth is that it’s the limited brain power that leads one to this erroneous conclusion. I took a shower hoping to clear the cobwebs, dressed, grabbed the cash and headed for the car. As the garage opened I could hear the thunder in the background and could see the storm was blowing where I was headed. I open the door and turn the key and click. No radio. No engine. Just Click. The damn thing was trying to turn over but the battery lacked the cranking power to turn it over. I do have another car and I could have grabbed the keys and continued on. I softly closed the door and watched the lightning cross the grey skies and concluded that some days, some things, just are not meant to be. That might make a great song title. There is always a silver lining to every sad lament; today, I got a new battery for the car today. |

lol you scored some pain pills on the day i would chalk that up as a W atleast i always do and then stare off into space like this
for an hour than wind up like this after about an hour and fifteen minutes but on a more serious note i truly think it was not meant to be. Just think you could have gotten into a car wreck on the way there ya its prolly slightly worse than hitting a 1 outer on the river but i think the royal flush is right on par with the odds and it does happen
