This would be a nice pot to win and enable you to withstand some of the bad beats coming. If you lose it you are not completely out and not much worse off in my scheme of things - you still have to win some big pots to get anywhere. To go down swinging early in these marathons is not such a bad thing - better then wasting 6+hrs to either just be short of the money or only win your entry back. IMHO.
Kard - Just to show I back up what I post - here is an early hand I played from the recent 10k gtd on UB. It was only one allin instead of two in front of me but same logic works for me at this stage - if my big hands are not going to win I'd rather go out early swinging. Luck was with me and the AK held up along with a couple of other big hands later and I made it into the money 43/1005. Man for you to have 1500 players still to go through and blinds at 400/800 I can only guess you are playing in one of those PokerStars monster marathons - definite call for me:

I am having my own dialogue with myself here. Oh well, just wanted to add the flip side of AK. I cashed but ironically I went out with AK allin and getting called by a not too much bigger stack (surprised me) who decided to call with 48os (I guess he just wanted any two live cards) and hit the 8 to knock me out. I can't really feel bad about that - so yes make the call with AK with confidence!

With 1500 remaining and blinds at 400/800 u only have 5 big blinds left ...so AK is probably the best thing you're gonna see...Makes it a bit dodgy having 2 players allin in front of you but I think in this situation ...u must call. If there were less people left or you had more big blinds left I would normally fold but these are special circumstances.

Gave some more thought to this one - good question. Aside from the blind size, the length of time for each level would be a huge factor. I'm largely ignoring your read on the other players because it most of these tourneys the tables break up before you normally have enough hands to make valid assessments. If this was a tourney with 5 min. levels (in other words a crap shoot) I would call. But if the blind lengths are 12 + mins., I'm going to pass with a drawing hand and wait for a better situation.
