This was an education to watch. Big name pros from tv and the wsop and some local hero's to cheer for. Two things I noticed was AK ruled and this was not a skill event (in my opinion). So that means N2K really had little if any advantage. From what I saw I am estimating at least 75% and probably higher, maybe 90%, of the strategy of everyone in this tourny was wait for a top 5 hand or any pocket pair and then be ready to shove. It was that way begining to end and I watched alot of tables. Very little street fighting, pretty much wait for a WMD and then be ready to go for broke otherwise you got run over. That said I would think almost anyone can play that style and just hope for a lucky run of allins with those hands. So for future similar events, if they play like this, you are better off getting multiple players entered through satelites instead of banking it all on 1 player. It would seem to me with this style of play you have a much better chance of somebody out of a group getting that lucky run of allins to get them through the bubble then just one person. So maybe the best strategy of getting a piece of the pie is to have the money pool go to getting multiple people cheaply into multiple satelites to hopefully win multiple seats in the main event instead of paying top dollar for just one seat. If you are looking to back a skill player with an advantage then better to pool your money and stake N2K for a couple of nights of his cash games where more varied strategy and tactics are in play and where his skill level and preparation actually has an advantage. Just my opinion from what I saw. Am I way off base?
